About Me

Woodlands Breathing is a wellbeing practice based near Edinburgh in
West Lothian in Scotland.  It is led by Jeannie and she'll guide you to
connect with yourself and nature, creating space and
calm in a pause away from your daily life so that you can thrive.

Since I was a wee girl growing up in a rural community in Scotland, I have always had a connection with trees and nature.

Jeannie has returned to her rural roots and enjoys living in a calmer environment in the countryside.  As a wife and ‘pawrent’, she is based in West Lothian.  She feels happier being in close proximity to tree friends and woodland paths rather than city pavements.  These days, her pockets are likely to contain a few ‘fallen treasures’ collected on her wanders along with a pair of gloves and a poo bag.  Sometimes, she leaves an offering of fallen treasures in the woods as a ‘woodland gratitude’ – a small gesture of reciprocity with the land.  You might like to do so as well wherever you are on your wanders.

These days, a good day ‘at the office’ will be spent outdoors grounding myself in nature, guiding others and connecting with ‘nature kin’.  After feeling invisible and somewhat burnout around life transitions a few years ago, wanders in the forest led me to becoming a certified Forest Therapy Guide.  Learning various self-care tools along the way has been an important part of my journey into becoming a Wellbeing Guide and remembering myself as a forest imp (as a former Brownie sixer).  I have learned to breathe more fully and find stillness though I can still be a great fidget!  Forest bathing has drawn much of my previous experience in a circle adding some new layers or branches.

When guiding forest bathing, “the forest is the therapist, and I am the guide”.  I’ll guide you within and invite you to remember and connect with your curious inner child.  Jeannie will guide you to wellBEing in the woods, offering you some tools you can take into your own life.

As a Forest Therapy Guide certified by the Association of Nature Forest Therapy, I am part of a global network - currently over 2,500 guides in over 65 countries including a select few of us in Scotland and the UK, with me not far from Edinburgh.  I am also a Guided Meditation Facilitator and Laughter Yoga Leader.  I have certificates for outdoor first aid as well as Scottish mental health first aid.

I’m happy to travel to other places to facilitate bespoke and corporate events by prior arrangement, or we can connect online across the oceans and time zones.

My Background

Who I Help

Are you seeking a pause and space to breathe?  Are you curious about nature connection?  Are you curious to connect with your inner child and inner wisdom?  Are you looking for support for your wellbeing and wellness?  If so, you're in the right place!

By joining me and my tree friends in forest bathing, we can offer reciprocity to the trees and other beings.

How I Do It

I will guide you in a variety of gentle wellbeing practices, either in person in Scotland or you can connect remotely online.  Currently, I offer forest bathing (or for-rest bathing), guided meditation and laughter yoga.

I will co-create the experience in relation with the trees and other beings (nature kin) and human beings present on the day so each experience is unique.

What's in It for You

Based on research evidence, wellbeing practices can support your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing by awakening your senses including awe and wonder.

You may reduce your cortisol (stress) and blood pressure levels, boost your immune system, feel more calm  or clarity and improve your mood.  Benefits can last for a few days.
